Some I am guessing from the new setlists. IJ said 16 songs were recorded, but not all would be used.
I Live my Life was on the Fats Domino tribute album so I doubt it will be on the new album. Is Heaven Blues the song Doors of Heaven that she played a bunch of times in 2005/06? I haven't heard Heaven Blues yet. And when she was playing "rarities" during that period as well it was called "rarity" so I don't know if that has changed since then either. I'm not a huge fan of "Rarity" if it has the same lyrics as a few years ago, it has two beautiful verses but the rest comes off as clumsy to me. The rest of the stuff looks like it will be the tracklist for the album when it comes out and I am quickly falling in love with "Little Rock Star" and the heavily re-worked version of "Tears of Joy" (although I loved it as a stark isolated ballad). Real Love also sounds a lot better than it did in 05/06.
So far I have been shocked by how far this band has come since she first started playing with them and how great the songs that were left off West sound in their re-worked versions. I spent a long time being depressed about the break up of the Love Band, one of the greatest backing bands I've heard, but after hearing one of the new shows the other day I'm more than looking forward to Little Honey.
Been awhile since i've posted here, probably a few years (when I tried to login my same username had either been deleted or i forgot the password), but hello to everyone!
And while I am intrigued by the AC/DC cover, if she is going to put a cover on the album I wish it would be "Masters of War", I still can't believe she left that off of the Live at the Fillmore album. One of the best covers i've heard.
Well, Well, Well has been confirmed to me. I think every other one except for I Live My Life & Bone Of Contention will make it. I do not think either of these will be on it. I think Bone Of Contention was just written in the last few weeks.
Heaven Blues is a whole different song than Doors Of Heaven. I heard it played in Minneapolis. It is a sort of Delta Blues song, Lucinda on acoustic & Doug playing bottleneck slide on it.
Masters of War has never been recorded by Lucinda to the best of my knowledge. I heard her & the band do a startling version of it last year in Greensboro, NC.
The AC/DC cover was recorded during the sessions for the new album. Not sure if it's going to make it on or not.
You're right it was honey chile, which I haven't heard the recorded version of yet, only the band doing it live, which was incredible.
So what was I live my life for? I have an mp3 of her doing it in the studio, was it just an extra track she recorded for possible inclusion?
And Lucinda played Masters of War at 2 of the 3 Fillmore shows. It sounds like the apocalypse raining down on everyone and she shreds her vocal chords screaming the hell out of it. I remember a Dylan quote which was basically "Masters of War was the only time you could hear the contempt or hatred in my voice" (paraphrasing), but Lucinda's version brings that out way more.
Also, if you love great covers, check out Clem Snide's version of the Velvet Undergrounds "I'll be your mirror".
Hey Tim, I think we talked a few times on here before, I lived in Minneapolis from 05-06. Did you go see her and Doug when they came ( I think it was St. Catherines college)? Great show, but I missed her at the zoo.
